What's in a name?

I hated my name growing up. All the popular girls had cool names like Megan and Sarah---I grew up in a small country town---while Susan hadn't been popular since The Lion and the Witch and the Wardrobe was published in 1950.

Hindsight granted me the realization that I wasn't uncool because of my name, I was a nerd. I cared more about character and substance than I cared about makeup and mid-riff bearing tees.

So, what's in name? Not a whole lot.

Arnold Schwarzenegger was told to change his name when he moved to Hollywood, because no one would be able to remember his name. We all know how that turned out.

It doesn't matter what name you were given.  What matters is what you do with it. Be the best version of yourself, make your name great. Even if you think your name is a bit lame, like Susan.

  1. I would have been VERY upset if my parents named me Susan. But that could be because I'm a guy.
